A verified purchaser “Bramille Swope” on Amazon says, “All I can say is this has exceeded my expectations. I’m 240# and can go 25mph on this guy. Kinda scary actually. my only complaint is that I wish it turned faster. It seems the trucks aren’t responsive enough in tight turns. Maybe that for good reason is that it goes so fast… It is after all a longboard but its hard to control going slow because it’s not responsive enough but who the hell likes going slow. I bought it because it is lightning fast. reports are true about acceleration. best to practice in slow mode cause the board accelerates very quickly and if you are not ready will leave you on your butt.”

The motor isn’t very powerful to push it up the hill, it is best suited on flat surfaces. And the best part, there’s a nice cut-out handle for easy carrying around.
Factors to Consider Before Buying a Cheap Electric Skateboard
If you are new to electric skateboarding or want the best experience out of a budget electric board, you should consider some features before purchasing.
You will not be disappointed with the performance of any of the above mentioned affordable electric longboards.
However, if you like any other e-board, consider the following factors before making a final decision;
Motor
Electric skateboards are equipped with motor systems. E-boards’ acceleration and performance depend on these motors. There are two basic types of motors – hub and belt-driven;
Hub Motors – these motors are most commonly used in electric skateboards due to reliability. The best part is, e-longboards equipped with hub motors can be ridden as a normal skateboard just by pushing it. Hub motors are cost-effective and require less maintenance.
Belt Driven Motors – these motors are mostly used in fast electric skateboards. If you are looking for an extremely fast e-skateboard, choose a board that is equipped with a belt-driven motor.
However, these motors are expensive and require maintenance regularly. Hence, the overall cost of the board will be on the high end.
Battery
The battery supplies power to the motor to drive the electric longboard. A better battery means better performance of the board. Mostly, these batteries are Lithium-ion with different capacities depending on the power.
Always look for the volts, they determine the torque – the higher the voltages, the higher the torque. However, do not go for a normal skateboard with extremely high voltage, it won’t be compatible and won’t last long.
Usually, these batteries are 36V. Another term is used with the battery, that is the capacity of the charge a battery can hold.
Speed
Electric skateboards’ speed normally varies between 10mph to 30mph. Some brands make fast boards with a top speed of up to 40mph – these are premium electric boards and are expensive! However, good cheap electric skateboards have a decent speed, from 22mph to 28mph.
Range
Do you want to travel a long distance on the electric board or a short distance to the school, office or the market? Cheap electric longboards have ranges between 8 miles to 24 miles. Choose a board after calculating the commute distance.
However, a longer-range board will be a better choice if you are purchasing for fun rides.
Material Quality
Most of the decks of budget e-boards are made of maple decks. Some of the above budget boards’ decks have fiber-glass, a stronger material that provides more durability. Wheels are mostly made of polyurethane with different levels of hardness. Don’t go very deep into materials, a normal deck with 7-layers of maple wood is strong enough to ride.
Remote Control
Electric boards are controlled by electronic remote controls. You should always consider the comfort and solid grip of the remote because you’ll be holding it while riding. Companies focus on designing the remote with smooth edges and that can be easily gripped.
Some of them have wristbands to minimize the chances of dropping them while speeding. Good remotes have LCD displays to monitor the speed, the range you’ve traveled and remaining battery, etc.
Customer Service & Warranty
You should always look for good after service by the company and a warranty on the e-skateboard. Good brands offer a warranty between six months to a year, that’s a good sign because the company is confident about its product.
Anything can go wrong with an electronic device, better to be sure of the good after-sale service by the company to solve the issues. Remember – warranty covers manufacturing and constructing faults – not the breakage.
Final Verdict
There is a number of cheap electric skateboards in the market. The industry is saturated due to high demand. However, not every low-budget electric longboard delivers good performance. Therefore, our skateboarding team spent countless hours testing multiple budget electric skateboards to select the top quality affordable motorized boards of 2024.
SKATEBOLT Tornado II is our top choice among the best cheap electric longboards due to its powerful hub motors, efficient performance, and load capacity.
